Committees

At Open Origins, we believe that leadership should be accessible, collaborative, and most importantly, divided among community members. To get involved, no prior experience is needed. You just need to show your willingness to contribute and work alongside others. Committee members will work closely with their respective board members to help plan events, shape programming, and bring ideas to life.

Each member may join one committee to focus their energy on their strong suit. Your role matters in any committee.

Being part of a committee gives you the opportunity to:

  • Work directly with Open Origins board members
  • Help plan and execute meetings, events, and activities
  • Gain leadership and organizational experience
  • Contribute your ideas and creativity to the club
  • Play an active role in growing and shaping the Open Origins community

Committees are designed to be supportive, collaborative, and beginner-friendly.

SPirit

The Spirit Committee works with the Secretary to help create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere at meetings and events. Members assist with planning activities, icebreakers, decorations, and encouraging participation within the club.

Public relations

The Public Relations Committee works with the Historian and manages how Open Origins is shared with the community. Members help run social media and the website, document meetings and events, and collect stories that highlight cultural experiences.

Fundraising

The Fundraising Committee works with the Treasurer to support the club financially by planning and running fundraisers. Members help organize events, manage supplies and pricing, and support collaborations and funding opportunities.
